Founder and President

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT

Yvonne S. Gates-Perry is Founder and President of Physicians’ Management Services.  While she was working at Lewis and Clark Community College in the late 1980’s as the Student Loan Officer, she was contacted by a relative, Wanda Harvey, who worked as a surgical technologist at Wood River Township Hospital.  Wanda shared that while they were doing a surgery case, the anesthesiologist asked everyone in the operating room if they knew of anyone who could be his office manager.  Wanda said that she spoke up and said that her cousin, who worked at LCCC, knew computers.  Yvonne told Wanda that knowing computers and working as an office manager in a physician’s office are very different.  However, since Yvonne embraces challenges, she met with Dr. Eddie Lin at his office in East Alton, Illinois.  And as they say, the rest is history.  Later the next year, inspired by her father, Mr. Willie Gates, to use her expert knowledge, high moral values, and endless fortitude, Yvonne started this company in Alton, Illinois on April 1, 1990.  Yvonne is stimulated by the caring spirit of healthcare providers.  She is motivated to make healthcare practical for patients, providers, and families.  Yvonne is responsible for technology solutions, research, and development of potential client’s needs, as well as corporate developments.

As our Leader, this means that Yvonne advocates and inspires the way forward, turning vision into reality.  Spending her professional career in the medical field and around the medical insurance industry facilitated the creation of Physicians’ Management Services.  She stays up to date with the latest changes in the billing ecosystem by attending yearly conferences, as well as keeping up to date with changes announced by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Over the past three decades, Physicians’ Management Services has provided consulting services to multiple physicians’ practices and healthcare facilities.  Also, our company has supplied medical billing services and training to individuals, caregivers, clinics, medical professionals, medical facilities, and governmental and nonprofit agencies through these years.

We have offered medical coding and billing training to several candidates in our office in a classroom setting, and now, as of May 2020, we are offering this training online in our virtual classroom.  We have the ability to train in subject matter for the entire revenue cycle, including patient access, eligibility and benefits, claim submission, application of payments/adjustments, and collections.  Prospective students will learn by adapting successfully to changing business climates, and it will self-motivate them to accept and embrace changing business goals.  We strive to offer the best service on medical coding and billing training via online in a virtual classroom.

ABOUT TAMMY WINDHAM

Tammy attended Alton public schools graduating in 1981; except for attending 7th and 8th grades in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where her father was employed at Saudia Airlines for several years. She went on to attend SIUE for one school year and then attended Lewis & Clark Community College (LCCC) graduating in December 1984. While finishing her final term at LCCC she was contacted by Dawn Wakeford, Director of Job Placement at LCCC. Dawn told Tammy that Shell Oil Company in Wood River, IL was hiring for entry level clerical work. Dawn set up an interview for Tammy with Harvey Birmingham in 1985. She got the job, started work on January 28, 1985 and is now the Payroll Administrator in Human Resources after 35 years of service! Of course, Tammy has held many other positions at Shell Oil; which after several mergers is now named Phillips 66 Wood River Refinery.

During many of Tammy’s years at Wood River Refinery, she assisted Yvonne with many tasks, such as, type setting and editing professional documents for the Medical Coding and Billing Program that it has become today. Tammy typed most of the instructional materials for the Medical Coding program and continues to assist Yvonne today. Tammy and Yvonne have been friends since kindergarten which has been over 50 years and have never lost contact with each other.
Tammy is very honored to have been with Yvonne since the inception of the program and wish nothing but continued success, growth, and prosperity for the business and all the many people it has and will help to learn a skill that will always be needed.
